The world has stopped for us…đź’”

The world has stopped for us…đź’”

Kaya’s story began with innocent pain in her arm, which turned out to be a malignant bone tumor. That day is one I will never forget. No one is prepared for cancer, especially in their own child. It’s something you cannot prepare for. During the doctor’s visit, no abnormalities were found initially, but Kaja was sent for an X-ray of her arm, which ultimately revealed a fracture in the upper part of her humerus, likely occurring about 6 weeks prior. Subsequent images showed that the bone fracture wasn’t due to a mechanical impact or fall—it had fractured spontaneously, due to pressure from an adjacent tumor… the doctor added, “Kaja needs to stay in the ward. I suspect a bone tumor.

We beg you for help…

Fear, tears, a sense of disbelief, mistakes, despair – it’s impossible to describe a parent’s reaction upon receiving such a devastating diagnosis from the doctor. Each subsequent test only confirmed the presence of this silent killer within her body. X-rays of different organs, PET scans, biopsies, CT scans, detailed blood tests – everything is not right, everything is a mess… nothing is green, either the arrows point down or up, there is no anchor point for hope that it’s just a small, benign lump, cyst, fibroid, anything – after all, people can have different, benign ailments

Kaya has urgently started chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the cancer is in an advanced stage, and it’s unclear how long it has been developing, but it’s certainly been five months too long in Kaya’s body. We have already completed the first doses… We know one thing, anti-cancer therapy entails immense stress and pain, both physically and emotionally, which we are experiencing alongside Kaya. We wish we could bear it for her. We had to opt for infusions administered through a port directly into her heart, as Kaya’s veins are struggling to handle the chemotherapy, resulting in unwelcome clots that cause suffering and necessitate multiple needle sticks. Sadly, the tests confirmed Ewing’s sarcoma, a more aggressive and stronger cancer, but we are ready to do everything to confront it. We ask for your help…
